Nightreign Forsaken Hollows DLC — What's New & How to Unlock It

FAQ

How do I buy the Forsaken Hollows DLC?
It's a €15 add-on on all Nightreign platforms, included automatically with Deluxe and Collector's editions. Requires update 1.03+ installed.
What does the Forsaken Hollows add to Nightreign?
Two playable Nightfarers (Scholar and Undertaker), two Nightlords (Balancers and Dreglord) with their own expeditions, and a new Shifting Earth map modifier.
How do I unlock Scholar and Undertaker?
Beat the Tricephalos expedition, watch the Iron Menial event at Roundtable Hold, follow the Small Jar Bazaar dialogue, then survive a scripted Dreglord cutscene encounter — full chain in our unlock guide.
How do I unlock the new Nightlords?
Defeat any two launch Nightlords to open the Balancers expedition; finishing Balancers once opens the Dreglord expedition — the DLC's final boss.

The Forsaken Hollows is Nightreign’s first DLC — released December 4, 2025 — and it fills the roster out rather than bolting on a mode: two playable Nightfarers, two new Nightlord expeditions, and a Shifting Earth modifier. Everything is gated behind in-game unlocks, not just purchase.

What does the DLC add?

  • Two Nightfarers — the Scholar (rot/status-focused kit, unique support-flavored arts) and the Undertaker (melee executioner archetype). Both join through a multi-step unlock chain — details below.
  • Two Nightlords — the Balancers (Weapon-Bequeathed Harmonia, a seven-body shared-health-boss) and the Dreglord (Traitorous Straghess, the DLC finale — a scarlet-rot monstrosity). Boss page: Dreglord.
  • One new Shifting Earth — a map-scale modifier that alters Limveld’s layout during expeditions.
  • Requires Nightreign update 1.03 or later; pricing is €15 standalone, bundled in Deluxe/Collector’s editions.

What is the unlock order?

Two parallel chains:

  1. Nightfarers (Scholar + Undertaker) — beat the Tricephalos expedition (Gladius, the starter Nightlord) → return to Roundtable Hold for the Iron Menial event → talk through the Small Jar Bazaar → survive the scripted Dreglord encounter (you don’t have to win) → both unlock. The full walkthrough: Scholar & Undertaker unlock guide.
  2. Nightlords — the Balancers expedition opens once you’ve beaten any two launch Nightlords; clearing Balancers once unlocks the Dreglord expedition — the DLC’s endgame.

Is the DLC worth it?

If you play Nightreign regularly, it’s a roster expansion at a roster price — two more nights’ worth of Nightlord variety and two genuinely different playstyles. New players can safely buy the base game first: the Hollows content assumes you’ve beaten two Nightlords, so nothing is wasted by waiting.

What else changed around it?

The DLC landed inside Nightreign’s ongoing live layer — Everdark Sovereign rotations, intermittent balance patches (the September hotfix line is on v1.03.6), and the relic grind unchanged. If you’re returning after a break, our Nightreign overview covers where the game stands now; if you’re new to the base Elden Ring this all spins off from, see the Elden Ring overview.
